MaiCo Industries Inc. is proud to announce that we have been officially certified by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety as a Fabricator, meeting the quality and safety certification requirements for Multisided Tubular Pole Structures. A significant milestone in the continuing growth and success of our organization, this certification shows our commitment to providing the highest levels of service in steel fabrication and conduct in our business practices.
About LADBS Fabricator Certification
Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) sets the quality standard for fabricated structural steel in the city of Los Angeles and is recognized as the standard for certification programs in high seismic activity zones. Certification requires fabricators to meet a rigorous set of standards regarding quality, safety, administration, and training. As a Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety fabricator, we are subject to periodic audits and site inspections to make sure our Quality Management System is being successfully implemented throughout the company. Our Quality Management program includes internal onsite inspections, material verification, specific welding procedures, and yearly internal audits of our own practices to verify accuracy, conformance, and efficiency in our systems.
Cox Certified as a Quality Control Inspector for the City of Los Angles Fabrication Projects
In addition, Dave Cox, our Plant Manager, was accepted as a Quality Control Inspector for projects produced by us for the City of Los Angeles. During our recent inspection by the LADBS, Dave scored in the top percentile on a quality control written test and received his certification in both the High Strength Steel and Unlimited Structural Steel categories with a specialty of Multi-sided Tubular Pole Structures.

About MaiCo
MaiCo manufactures steel poles, bridge tub girders, building structural steel, skid attachments and other specialty fabrication. Located in Ellsworth KS, MaiCo was founded in 1995, by Paul Mai. The original fabrication facility consisted of approximately 50,000 square feet and specialized in custom fabricated 3-plate beam frames. In 2001 MaiCo built a 50,000 square foot expansion on to the original facility to fabricate multi-sided poles. In 2014, an additional 15,000 square foot was added to the pole division, making the facility a total of 115,000 square foot.
MaiCo Certifications
In addition to MaiCo Industries earning certification by Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, we are certified by American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and our welders are certified per the American Welding Society’s (AWS) most current edition of the D1.1 and D1.5 welding code manuals in addition to being certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) per the CSA Standard W47.1 MaiCo is also authorized to provide structural steel for highway infrastructure by the Departments of Transportation in: Kansas, Florida, Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Texas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Arkansas and by Clark County, NV and The City of Phoenix
